Beyond Knit & Purl: Sophie Scarf
In just a few years, the Sophie scarf has become one of the most popular projects amongst knitters. The scarf requires only a few techniques- a simple increase and decrease, and an i-cord edge, and is quick to knit up so you can make a bunch to gift during the holiday season!
In this short two-hour session, we'll show you how to knit your first Sophie scarf, using a yarn of your choice from the wonderful selection of options shown below.
Class Prerequisite: You must be comfortable with casting on and binding off, the knit stitch and purl stitch.
Materials Required: 3.5mm 24" circular needles. Pen and paper or row counter for keep track of rows. Optional stitch marker. Materials can be purchased at the shop prior to or during the class.
Yarn Options: at least 130m of DK weight (or equivalent) yarn, to be purchased prior to or at the beginning of class, from yarn options listed below:
- 2 balls Lang Cashmere ($30 each)
- 2 skeins Melange No. 1 ($25 each)
- 1 skein Semilla Melange ($14)
- 2 balls Duo ($11 each)
- 1 skein Highland Alpaca DK ($17)
- 130m fingering weight yarn and 1 ball Silk Mohair ($21), held together
