Heel Turn Refresher Class: HEEL FLAP SECTION
Please complete this section before attending the Heel Refresher class. If you need help, feel free to drop in or contact us before the class date.
HEEL FLAP:
The heel flap is worked back and forth on half of the total amount of stitches on your needles. The remaining half of the stitches will be worked later for the instep. For example, if your total stitch count is 48 stitches, you will be working back and forth on 24 stitches. (for fingering weight, if 60 total stitches, then work on 30sts)
Row 1 (RS): *Slip 1, knit 1; repeat from * to end. Turn your work and begin the next row on the wrong side.
Row 2 (WS): Slip 1, purl to end, turn.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 12 times. (24 rows in total). For fingering/sock weight yarn, repeat rows 1 and 2 17 times. (Your completed heel flap should look like a square).
TIP No.1: Remember to keep the pattern on the right side rows- “slip, knit, slip, knit, slip, knit…”
TIP No.2: Remember to slip the first stitch on every row in this section - it will help you greatly in picking up the edge stitches in the gusset section later.
